Introduction: the Chanter playstyle
Want to play Chanter in Aion 2 and be the best player in your group?
This Aion 2 Chanter guide gathers the whole build, step by step: playstyle, specialization of every skill, passives, stigmas, presets, target stats, gear, Arcanas, Genus Insight, Daevanion and macro.
This guide is 100% PvE. The Chanter PvP build is coming soon to the site.
The Chanter is a dynamic and very versatile melee class. It hits just as well up close as at range, and it has a huge support kit.
- +The best buffs in the game
- +Hits in melee and at range
- +Can play healer or DPS-healer
- +Very tanky, lots of resistance
- −No weak point
It is the most sought-after class in the game: its buffs benefit the whole group and its damage stays very solid. In our view, it is simply the best class in Aion 2.
Understanding specializations
Each skill has 5 specialization lines, identified by a color: green, blue, yellow, orange and red. They unlock with the skill level.

- Level 8: lines 1 to 3, 1 specialization
- Level 12: 4th line, 2 specializations
- Level 16: 5th line unlocked
- Level 20: 3 specializations
How do you get a main skill to level 20? You add up 4 sources:
| Source | Levels gained |
|---|---|
| Base level | 10 |
| Daevanion | +4 |
| Arcanas | +4 |
| Gear (rings) | +2 |
| Total | 20 |
Remember this rule: 4 points from Daevanion, 4 points from Arcanas, 2 points from gear. The Chanter has 4 main skills: Onslaught, Dark Crush, Spinning Strike and Recuperation.
Active skills
For each skill, here are the specializations to activate depending on its level. The colored dot shows the matching line in game.
OnslaughtMain skill
A main skill to level to 20. It hits up to 4 enemies and restores MP.
Dark CrushMain skill
The Chanter’s big hit. It deals bonus damage to targets affected by an Impact effect.
Spinning StrikeMain skill
A main skill to level to 20. It increases your Critical Damage Boost by 15% for 30 s, stacking twice, and makes Dark Crush available.
RecuperationMain skill
The Chanter’s group heal. It heals and removes a debuff from the whole group within 40 m.
Incandescent Blow
Level it to 16. Level 20 is not needed.
Rushing Smash
Worthwhile at level 16.
Impactful Crush
Level 12 is enough. No need to go past level 16.
Gust Rampage
Level it to 16 minimum.
Heat Wave Blow
Level 12 is enough. At level 16, keep the same specializations.
Tremor Crush
Level 12 minimum.
Wave Blow
Level 12 minimum. It reduces the damage dealt by the target.
Defiance
Level 12 minimum. Tenacity makes you immune to crowd control.
Passives
Some passives are essential, others much less so. Here is the ranking.
| Tier | Passive | What it gives |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | Critical Damage Boost and bonus damage on critical hit. The #1 passive. | |
| 0 | PvE Damage Boost, Defense and Accuracy | |
| 1 | Impact effect chance and Double Chance | |
| 2 | Critical Hit and Perfect Chance | |
| 3 | More HP and Heal Boost | |
| 3 | Reduces the target’s PvE Damage Tolerance. Useless if a Cleric is in the group: the Cleric levels this effect. |
- The first 3 (Wind’s Promise, Attack Preparation, Impact Hit) should be leveled as high as possible. They are also the 3 passives to look for on gear.
- Inspiring Spell comes right after.
- The rest matters little: spread your remaining points.
Stigmas
Stigmas are special skills that boost your character. At launch, you will only have 4 slots. Each stigma gains a line every 5 levels (5, 10, 15 and 20).
3 stigmas are almost always mandatory: Undefeated Mantra, Sprint Mantra and Power of the Storm. The 4th slot depends on the content and your role.
Undefeated Mantra
The attack mantra: a big damage buff for the whole group. All its lines are useful, but it really shines at level 20.
Sprint Mantra
The mobility mantra. Mandatory in every case. The 1st tier is the most interesting, then the 3rd.
Power of the Storm
Mandatory in every case. Combat Speed, Attack and cooldown reduction for the whole group. Level it first.
The 4th slot
| Role | Stigma | When to take it |
|---|---|---|
| Offensive | To deal maximum damage. Its level matters little. | |
| Defensive | Blocks attacks. Worthwhile at levels 5 (+1 use) and 10 (usable while moving). | |
| Shield | Content that requires big shields and lots of resistance. All its tiers are good. | |
| Invulnerability | Content that requires group invulnerability. All its tiers are good. | |
| Healer | You are the only healer. Especially at level 15: it removes 5 debuffs. |
Presets: healer, DPS or support
The Chanter is a very versatile class. The game lets you save several skill presets (tabs 1, 2 and 3 at the top of the skill window): use them to switch roles in one click.
- DPS preset: the 3 mandatory stigmas and Marchutan’s Wrath.
- Healer preset: the 3 mandatory stigmas and Healing Touch. On Spinning Strike, the blue line (Heal Boost) becomes interesting.
- Support preset: the 3 mandatory stigmas and Barrier Spell, Impeding Authority or Focused Defense, depending on the content.
Target stats

As with almost every class, Attack dominates. Look for plenty of Might: this stat increases your Attack as a percentage (Attack Increase).
Then, 4 divine stats make the difference:
- Destruction [Zikel]: increases Attack.
- Wisdom [Lumiel]: increases Double Chance.
- Time [Siel]: increases Combat Speed.
- Illusion [Kaisinel]: reduces cooldowns, so your buffs come back more often.
Where to find them? On the Pantheon artworks and on abyssal bracelets.
Late game gear
The target gear is the crafted Splendent Ebony Dragon Lord set, the most expensive in the game. Every piece is at max enhancement (+20) with max potential.
The golden rule of Soul Binding
Each piece has random stats: the Soul Binding. On armor and jewelry, 3 passives always come back: Wind’s Promise, Attack Preparation and Impact Hit.
In the table, passives are in purple and active skills in blue.
Soul Binding by gear piece
| Piece | Mandatory lines | Optional | Philosopher’s Stone |
|---|---|---|---|
| Staff (weapon) | Combat Speed, Damage Boost, Weapon Damage Boost, Multi-hit Chance, Might | – | Attack |
| Guard (off-hand) | Combat Speed, Damage Boost, Weapon Damage Boost, Multi-hit Chance, Might | – | Attack |
| Helmet | Double Chance, Attack Increase, Wind’s Promise, Attack Preparation, Impact Hit | – | Inspiring Spell or the stat you lack |
| Shoulders | Critical Damage Boost, Double Chance, Wind’s Promise, Attack Preparation, Impact Hit | – | Inspiring Spell or the stat you lack |
| Chest | Damage Boost, Wind’s Promise, Attack Preparation, Impact Hit | Perfect Chance, Attack, Accuracy or Inspiring Spell | Inspiring Spell or the stat you lack |
| Pants | Attack Increase, Wind’s Promise, Attack Preparation, Impact Hit | Perfect Chance, Attack, Accuracy or Inspiring Spell | Inspiring Spell or the stat you lack |
| Gloves | Combat Speed, Wind’s Promise, Attack Preparation, Impact Hit | Perfect Chance, Attack, Accuracy or Inspiring Spell | Inspiring Spell or the stat you lack |
| Cape | Double Chance, Attack Increase, Wind’s Promise, Attack Preparation, Impact Hit | – | Inspiring Spell or the stat you lack |
| Boots | Movement Speed, Wind’s Promise, Attack Preparation, Impact Hit | Perfect Chance, Attack, Accuracy or Inspiring Spell | Inspiring Spell or the stat you lack |
| Earrings (×2) | Movement Speed, Might, Wind’s Promise, Attack Preparation, Impact Hit | – | Inspiring Spell or the stat you lack |
| Necklace | Combat Speed, Might, Wind’s Promise, Attack Preparation, Impact Hit | – | Inspiring Spell or the stat you lack |
| Rings (×2) | Might, Onslaught, Dark Crush, Spinning Strike, Recuperation | – | Attack |
| Abyssal bracelets (×2) | Illusion [Kaisinel], Time [Siel], Wisdom [Lumiel], Destruction [Zikel] | – | Death [Triniel] (Critical Hit) or Freedom [Vaizel] (Accuracy) |
Perfect Chance, Attack or Accuracy? The choice depends on what you already have. Depending on your other sources (gear, Genus Insight, buffs), you may or may not need Accuracy. Check your stats before choosing.
- Rings: the 4 main skills take all the space. There is no slot for another skill.
- Amulet and belt: not very important.

Manastones
On Superior Manastones, every Ultimate line is viable. Aim first for:
- Damage Boost +100
- Weapon Damage Boost +100
- Critical Damage Boost +100
Back Attack Damage Boost is less interesting. If you get it, you can still keep it.
No Ultimate line? The best alternative is Attack +10.
Accuracy or Critical Hit can also become interesting, depending on your current Accuracy.
Theostones

The differences between Theostones are small. The best option: any Theostone with a 1% chance to deal big damage.
You hit very often, so that 1% triggers regularly. Example: Traufnir’s Courage, 1% chance to deal 10,000 fire damage.
Arcanas
Arcanas grant a divine stat and skill or passive levels. The goal: +4 on each main skill and as much as possible on the key passives. All cards are +5.
Optimization example
What matters is the final result. You can spread your points however you like across the cards.
| Card | Divine stat | Sub-skills |
|---|---|---|
| Mirror of Magic | Wisdom [Lumiel] | Wind’s Promise 4, Impact Hit 3, Inspiring Spell 1, Earth’s Promise 1 (optional) |
| Bell of Magic | Destruction [Zikel] | Attack Preparation 4, Blessing of Life 3, Protection Circle 1, 1 passive of your choice |
| Compass of Magic or of Vigor | Death [Triniel] (Critical Hit) or Freedom [Vaizel] (Accuracy), depending on your needs | Recuperation 4, Incandescent Blow 2, Gust Rampage 2, Impactful Crush 1 |
| Parchment of Vigor | Life [Yustiel] | Onslaught 4, Dark Crush 3, Spinning Strike 1, 1 skill of your choice |
| Chalice of Vigor (Grail) | Time [Siel] | Spinning Strike 3, Dark Crush 1, Wind’s Promise 3, Attack Preparation 1 |
- Result: +4 on Onslaught, Dark Crush, Spinning Strike and Recuperation. +7 on Wind’s Promise, +5 on Attack Preparation, +3 on Impact Hit.
- Compass: what matters is maxing Recuperation. Then, preferably Incandescent Blow or Gust Rampage already at +2.
- Chalice (Grail): fill it last, to complete what is missing after the other cards. Then put the remaining points into Wind’s Promise and Attack Preparation.
Wings
Two choices, depending on your goal:
| Wings | Main effect (equipped) |
|---|---|
| Forest Spirit Wings | Boss Damage Boost and Boss Attack |
| Dark Veil Wings | Damage Boost and Attack Bonus |
Genus Insight
Genus Insight is filled family by family (Cogni, Fera, Natura, Varian and Special). Each family has 9 slots, with the same pattern:
| Slot | Stat to take |
|---|---|
| 1 | Attack Bonus (otherwise Critical Attack or PvE Attack) |
| 2 | HP increase |
| 3 | Accuracy if you lack it, otherwise Critical Hit |
| 4 | PvE Damage Boost, Damage Boost or Critical Damage Boost. Special only: Double Chance |
| 5 | Attack Bonus (otherwise Critical Attack or PvE Attack) |
| 6 | Accuracy or Critical Hit |
| 7 | Critical Hit |
| 8 | HP increase |
| 9 | Accuracy or Critical Hit |
Pantheon
For artworks, always aim for the same 4 stats: Wisdom, Destruction, Time and Illusion. Life and the other stats are not a priority.
For statues, use what you have. The Kromede and Zikel statues are the priority for the stats they give.
Daevanion
Daevanion tops up skill levels. Take every golden node: these are the +4 on main skills and on key passives.
The rule is simple: take every skill and every passive. Start with the ones that matter most for the class. The less useful skills and passives can wait.
| Skill | Target Daevanion bonus |
|---|---|
| All active skills | +4 |
| All passives | +4 |
Rotation and macro
Buffs
Your buffs are not part of the rotation: cast them by hand. This applies to Undefeated Mantra, Sprint Mantra and Power of the Storm.
The skill chain
Place your skills in 2 lines. The order matters.
- Line 1: Dark Crush, Spinning Strike, Impactful Crush, then Incandescent Blow.
- Line 2: Wave Blow, then Heat Wave Blow.

The in-game macro
The in-game macro contains the head of each line: Dark Crush then Wave Blow.

Then hold right click and left click: auto-attack runs and the macro casts your skills as soon as they are ready.
Bonus option: the mouse macro
Do you have a Logitech mouse, or any mouse with macro software? Create a macro in your software. Example here with G Hub:
- Macro type: repeat while held.
- Keys: the in-game macro key, then the auto-attack key.
- Save, then assign the macro to the empty button of your choice.

More details on macros in the Aion 2 Bible.
Conclusion
The Chanter does it all: it buffs the group, heals, tanks and hits hard. It is the class every group wants.
Key points to remember:
- Onslaught, Dark Crush, Spinning Strike and Recuperation to level 20 first.
- Wind’s Promise, Attack Preparation and Impact Hit above all on gear and passives.
- Undefeated Mantra, Sprint Mantra and Power of the Storm in your stigmas, the 4th depending on your role.
- One preset per role: DPS, healer and support.
- Might, Destruction, Wisdom, Time and Illusion as target stats.
